‘Environmental advocates in Ottawa say this weekend’s Paris climate change agreement is a game changer, but “stronger actions” and “stronger commitments” are needed.
On Saturday, nearly 200 countries signed an agreement to collectively cut greenhouse gas emissions. But while the historic event drew loud applause in the conference hall, some are concerned about a lack of sanctions for countries which don’t comply.
“This changes everything,” Mitchell Beer, an observer for the Sierra Club of Canada, told CBC’s Ottawa Morning on Monday. “Yes, it’s a limited agreement,” he said. “It was the most anyone could agree on with 195 countries and multiple negotiating blocks at the table.”‘

‘What does a pipe spewing 50,000 kilograms of methane per hour look like? You’d never know, as the highly flammable gas is invisible to the naked eye. But in the northern San Fernando Valley of Los Angeles, where a ruptured pipe has been pluming natural gas for nearly two months, residents finally have their chance to see.’

Paul already shared this, but seems an appropriate juncture to share his video again here, for a second time. from his remarkable, nine part Hansen series, here). While at first pass to some, land and methane, and C02 and surface water from my lay perspective (dk) might not seem to directly correlate, its really about dumping and excess, in a big way:

Top Climate Expert: Crisis is Worse Than We Think & Scientists Are Self-Censoring to Downplay Risk, on Amy Goodman, of Democracy Now. Another ht by Harold (15:38 long) // Published on Dec 8, 2015:
‘Ahead of the U.N. climate change summit in Paris, France, more than 180 nations pledged to voluntarily reduce greenhouse gas emissions, but many climate justice groups say far more needs to be done to keep global warming in check. We speak with one of the world’s leading climate scientists who has come to the Paris talks with a shocking message:
‘The climate crisis is more severe than even many scientists have acknowledged. Kevin Anderson is deputy director of the Tyndall Centre for Climate Change Research and professor of energy and climate change at the University of Manchester in Britain. He has said many scientists are self-censoring their work to downplay the severity of the climate crisis.‘

Lord Nicholas Stern was too quick for me to get a selfie with him. I have not even had a chance yet to have my morning coffee. Still half asleep and moving very slowly. Maybe I can catch up with him later.
I did talk with Kevin Anderson from the Tyndall Center and met his colleague Alice Bows-Larkin from the Tyndall on the bus to the COP21 convention center. Will attend a seminar shortly with Anderson and Schellenhuber (sp?) who is a well known European climate scientist. Will be a busy day for sure. I will be speaking on abrupt climate disruption at a press conference in the early evening…

[Increased awareness shown by simple demographics and view count: increased awareness on the part of four Scandinavian countries. As I said a few weeks back, as many as eleven major European Countries does not even equal the number of views from Norway, Sweden, Finland, and Denmark combined in the last week.
And this accounts for the marked increase in France at this juncture, otherwise it would be more like fifteen or sixteen countries approaching those four alone. Evidence from the last month or two at Paul’s site, show they clearly have more interest and, on the margin probably much greater concern per capita. This has been a consistent pattern day after day and week after week in the last two months here.
That is to say:
one view per 446,000 Americans this week,
one view per 330,000 Canada/UK/Australia/NZ,
one view per 286,000 combined eleven European Countries: Fran/Neth/Germ/Belg (4), and: Port/Irl/Ita/Swit/Rom/Slv/Aus (7) = 11, and
one view per 23,800 persons in Norway/Sweden/Finland/Denmark!
Considering that most in groups one and two get to read Paul in their mother tongue, and groups three and four mostly will have English as a second language, makes this all the more notable. Awareness coefficient indeed.
dk: The work of the esteemed Nick Breeze of Envisionation is universally excellent. He is no fool. Besides filmmaking, he is robust in communications and culture and does a ton of work involving a lot of people He is the consummate pros pro.
It is not who does Nick know, but who does he NOT know? He know 98% of all the major players in climate in the English speaking world–Peter Wadhams, Natalia Shakhova, David Wasdell to name but a few. And this includes the spiritual dimension, such as Lord Martin Rees. And now Paul again:

‘Paul Beckwith, climate scientist and communicator speaks at COP21 about how it is too late to hold global heating to within 2C. Arctic feedbacks, he says, are already taking over.’

Beyond Crisis // Published on Dec 4, 2015 (9:33 long)
Paul speaks with Beyond Crisis in Ottawa on abrupt climate change; the earth’s warming creating dramatic loss of sea ice in the Arctic; and the urgent need to act NOW to reduce emissions, cool the Arctic and slow the warming trend. This piece gives a detailed analysis on the risks we face from Arctic warming to the overall climate system.
“We’re an innovative, intelligent species but we’re total idiots on the climate change issue.”
“I think we’re in trouble NOW… The world will wake up one morning and they’ll be no sea ice in the Arctic – the weather will be unrecognizable. Will that wake people up? Do we have to reach that point?”

From the NY Times image, the article continues: ‘World leaders have 12 days to agree on plans to slow global warming. We’re weighing in with insights and analysis.
