Climate Mayhem: ACTION, not despair // Published on Feb 15, 2017
I reflect on abrupt climate change. Where we are now, how bad it is, and what is in store for us. I talk methane, extreme weather, Arctic sauna, jet streams, flora and fauna, oceans…
As bad as it is, there are steps we must take; first of which is global public recognition of our climate emergency. Fantasy talk of human extinction in a few years is just, well, crazy distorted pointless emotional nonsense…
No, I do NOT think that NTHE (near-term-human-extinction) people are crazy.
I think that the notion that 7.5 billion people will all be dead in a few years is crazy. People are not crazy. Their ideas/notions/beliefs can be distorted. Big difference. I respect all people. Not all their ideas. Nothing wrong with disagreement. It is how science works…
Please help me get the message out on this emergency and my three-legged bar-stool action-triad, and consider a contribution, in support of my work. Easy to use PayPal feature, at Donate, here.
Industrial Capacity is still up to build the infrastructure to draw down the atmospheric overload ~ end Anthropocene event underway and theoretically the act of aiming the world toward 7th Gen of Cell life forward would cause a spectacular explosion of creativity and initiate Open System Hop to a new state of planetary life past intelligence extinction’s net force of Entropy Catastrophic Closed System that the Bank of Bling Thing likes to wallow in while playing the fiddle of dangling sword’s.

Consider the big picture and what would happen if we, all people put our tin caps on and worked as one so the planet biosphere can recover and star industry potential takes off.:
I watched your Youtube and I fully agree.
Proclamations of certain doom go well beyond the science and only lead to apathy and inaction. One wonders at the personal motivation of someone relaying such a message interspersed with moralising about humans being a “selfish, immature race” and “just another species” with injunctions to “love each other”. This is merely a rehash of the cult of original sin with the typically nauseating religious overtones. McPherson in other words has lost his marbles, or worse.
We have no scientific way of knowing whether the instability we have caused is a one way street to doom. Anybody pretending otherwise while reciting “exponential change” as a mantra is fooling himself or his flock. Exponential positive feedback processes are mixed with logarithmic ones…such as the requirement for a doubling of CO2 for every linear increment in temperature change (in the absence of tipping points), or the fact the Earth will emit heat back into space at a rate that rises with the 4th power of temperature change (a more than exponential stabilising effect).
I will stick with you, Hansen, Richard Alley, and others who are still trying to do something about it, not wallowing in doomsday cultism.
Thank you for all the excellent videos.
Seven facts you need to know about the Arctic methane timebomb
1. The 50 Gigatonne decadal methane pulse scenario was posited by four Arctic specialists, and is considered plausible by Met Office scientists
2. Arctic methane hydrates are becoming increasingly unstable in the context of anthropogenic climate change and it’s impact on diminishing sea ice
3. Multiple scientific reviews, including one by over 20 Arctic specialists, confirm decadal catastrophic Arctic methane release is plausible
4. Current Arctic methane levels are unprecedented
5. The tipping point for continuous Siberian permafrost thaw could be as low as 1.5C
6. Arctic conditions during the Eemian interglacial lasting from 130,000 to 115,000 years ago are a terrible analogy for today’s Arctic
7. Paleoclimate records will not necessarily capture a large, abrupt methane pulse
Methane Hydrates – Extended Interview Extracts With Natalia Shakhova
The USGS are not actual on the spot scientists! They are merely graph and pretty picture academic fantasists. You need to get out there and do real research,Paul, not play around with models! 😦 There are lots of scientists actually doing this! Get your tootsies frozen anf get out there!
Arctic methane gas emission ‘significantly increased since 2014′ – major new research
New expedition in Laptev Sea suggests increase in the rate of underwater permafrost degradation.
This is the first time that we’ve found continuous, powerful and impressive seeping structures, more than 1,000 metres in diameter. It’s amazing. Over a relatively small area, we found more than 100, but over a wider area, there should be thousands of them.’
In 2013, his research partner Natalia Shakhova, a scientist at the University of Alaska Fairbanks, reported in journal Nature Geoscience, that the East Siberian Arctic Shelf was venting at least 17 teragrams of the methane into the atmosphere each year. A teragram is equal to 1 million tons.
‘It is now on par with the methane being released from the arctic tundra, which is considered to be one of the major sources of methane in the Northern Hemisphere,’ she said. ‘Increased methane releases in this area are a possible new climate-change-driven factor that will strengthen over time.’
Methane is a greenhouse gas more than 30 times more potent than carbon dioxide. On land, methane is released when previously frozen organic material decomposes.
Methane release from melting permafrost could trigger dangerous global warming
As the Earth warms, and the Arctic warms especially fast, the permafrost melts and soil decomposition accelerates. Consequently, an initial warming leads to more emission, leading to more warming and more emission. It is a vicious cycle and there may be a tipping point where this self-reinforcing cycle takes over.
Recently, a policy briefing from the world-leading Woods Hole Research Center has moved our understanding of this risk further through a clearly-written summary. The briefing cites two recent papers (here and here) that study the so-called permafrost carbon feedback.

Thom Hartmann Program

Thom Hartmann talks with Dahr Jamail, Investigative Journalist / Staff Writer-Truthout, Website: http://www.truthout.org, who says the loss of Arctic sea ice will lead to larger amounts of previously trapped methane into our atmosphere.
Well I still hang on paul stating we should start geo engineering to fend off rapid temperature rise???? Somebody tell paul that they have been spraying a host of last resort heavy metals for over 25 years and its killing all eco systems faster than any warming. Paul please go to dane wigingtons web site and read.
I witness up to 40 planes spraying daily on same two flight paths.
Dimming reported to be between 20-30% already on average. Paul do u think any more dimming could be done without u noticing?
All these inconsistancies from the experts scare the shit out of me . Does anybody have the all togather real facts?
Can all of you please get togather!
As an outdoorsman who is 60, I say we are f”””ed faster then all of you think .
