I also show a strange example where a ridge transforms into a powerful loop over the Bering Strait in the Arctic.

Loopy Jet Stream in Arctic // Published on Jul 12, 2016

In early February, 2014 a large jet stream ridge pushing into the Arctic Ocean pinched off into a loop which spread out over the Arctic.

I show the progression of this strange behaviour in 3 hour time steps.
