Film

Say it once.  Say it twice.  But lots happening.  For friends and fans–I have been approached by a serious US based film maker, about being cast in a significant documentary on Abrupt or Rapid Climate Change.  We need to be under radar, but its nice to gain new recognition.  Its happening.  And its happening now.  ‘Build it and they will come’.

Discuss Book with Naomi Klein

I did get to talk directly in person with Naomi Klein, author of the justly well regarded if not groundbreaking book, ‘The Shock Doctrine, The Rise of Disaster Capitalism‘, as to potentially collaborating on a book. Its early to say much about it, but we agreed to discuss this.

Recent elections gave me many opportunities to meet valued colleagues here in and around Ottawa and Naomi certainly is not among the least of these.

I also got to see her husband with her, Avi Lewis, and this was at the Mayfair Theatre in Ottawa.  More latter.

Never stop laughing (Paul):

‘For one medieval couple, “till death do us part” wasn’t nearly long enough. A team of archeologists excavating the Chapel of St. Morrell in England’s Leicestershire County recently discovered two skeletons buried with their arms entwined. Believed to be a destination for pilgrims in the 14th century, the chapel was “lost” for centuries before being rediscovered by a local historian.’  Full article continues here.

That’s me on the left!

University of Alberta scientists join call for Ottawa to stop muzzling federal researchers,

‘A group of University of Alberta scientists is joining a national call for a new direction in science policy and an end to muzzling of federal researchers.

The public can’t make informed decision on policies if they don’t have access to all the evidence, says Colleen Cassady St. Clair, a biologist who studies grizzly bears in Banff National Park. She spoke Thursday at a panel discussion on science policy.

“You can’t arrive at the right decision if you don’t know all the options ” Cassady St. Clair said in an interview. …

Public concerns about the Harper government’s muzzling of federal researchers gained momentum this week after a high-profile protest about firings and fear in the federal bureaucracy.

More than 100 former Parks Canada employees issued an unprecedented open letter condemning the abrupt firing, with no reason, of a senior scientist in Jasper National Park, the continued erosion of scientific evidence in parks policy, and the atmosphere of fear instilled across federal departments.’  Article continues at link.

Begun

This webpage has now gone into lift off.  Many tweets, Facebook posts, YouTube videos are already done, but a matter of aggregating and integrating it all.  Some might say prepare a meal, but I already have.  Prep done.  Serve the food, not cook the meal.
