With a week or two left in the 2016 melt season, and another storm in the long range forecast, all bets are off.
I discuss extent, area, thickness, volume, surrounding sea and air temperature, trends and what it means to us, lower-latitude mortals. Not a pretty picture; expand extreme weather events around the globe to notch up in frequency, severity and duration.
Ice minimums in record years 2012 and 2007. Now, 2016 had smoked 2007 and pushes towards 2012.

As many of you know, Extinction Radio is thankfully back. Michael Ferrigan is doing a really good job, continuing what Gene, Peter and Ivey did and which the prior of course founded and now returned to the helm. Its great that they are having Paul back (dk).
In addition to our esteemed friend and colleague Jennifer Hynes being the featured guest this week, as well as a regular guest in her new regular Climate Rodeo Roundup, Paul has a nice short(see link below).
Just so you know, she also discussed Peter Wadams recent dismissal from Cambridge, according to excuse of age, it was said. Please do your own due diligence and be aware. Stated as report, not final truth. But where there is smoke there is fire. If this is indeed true, its most alarming.
Back to Paul. The ENTIRE show is really worth a real listen (and by all means listen to all of it), but those in a hurry can hear him (Paul!) explicate the planet weather, very ‘top down’, in just a few minutes, by going to the 45:50 mark: ‘Paul Beckwith – The Situation in Greenland‘, about 6:13 long. As Mike aptly says, its not as if Paul just has SOME lecturing experience or is new at this!

Uh, hello… Does anyone else have a problem with NO POLAR ICECAP (!!!) or is it just me?

No arctic icecap is terrible for sure. But it has some positive flipside (as there are two sides of any coin):
Empire will soon be gone.
(Btw: Cheers to the mod of this beautiful blog. I am done with climate change, just enjoying the fall of Empire from now on. Good luck.)

JMI, yes I have a problem with NO POLAR ICECAP. Abrupt release of seabed methane will be catastrophic. Current polar icecap trend only leaves open the question of when, not if. Given that we are about to elect a U.S. President that does not even acknowledge AGW, the “if” question is eliminated all the more.

Politics mixed with Corporate Globalized wants vacant land and moves to convert all to $$ in a launder operation of Earth to bits divvied for profit taking yet shielded from consequence; but Earth is held -was held habitable by life. O2 Sky at 21% and Sea pH 8.2, just right for, harmony for carbonate balance with Sky CO2 no greater than 280 ppm. But it’s 403 now and the machine that drives the enterprise for $$ is in business for itself-Corp- body that has taken its extreme to extreme. Ice melting is in acceleration while Corporate-Gov globalizes and consolidates to undo voice of opposition on pain of Tort law consequence.
The cloak that masks Earth heat’s ability to escape is connected to Voice $-Corp-Gov X over that of Open System Enterprise Large for Real.. Peace for Real has Large Enough Reason Why and that involves Accounting Error Correction Large at Standing with Snap. The heading of bearing toward Sea ~ prayer at hope lays with unleashing zoom for Real.,
