Google Earth Nullschool and learn how to become a climate scientist in 15 minutes. I exaggerate slightly since there is a second video (2/2) to finish up your training. Our climate system is in turmoil as abrupt climate change proceeds and I will teach you here how you can watch this climate unravelling happening day to day, or even every 3 hours. Buckle up tightly and enjoy the ride to a much different planet.

Google Earth Nullschool and learn how to become a climate scientist in 15 minutes ; actually in 26 minutes. Watch video (1/2) first and then this second video (2/2) to finish up your training. Our climate system is in turmoil as abrupt climate change proceeds and I will teach you here how you can watch this climate unravelling happening day to day, or even every 3 hours. Buckle up tightly and enjoy the ride to a much different planet.

The physics says yes. Controlled H-Bomb detonations [1] under the desert sands every year or two would hurl dust into the stratosphere and cool the planet, arresting abrupt warming.

We have waited forever to do nothing on climate change, and it has now gone exponential and is spiralling out of control.  We do have last ditch, back to the wall options, which need to be in our toolbox to save our hides.

Wouldn’t it be the ultimate irony that the most powerful weapons ever devised could save us [2] [3]!

I teach people how easy it is to use “Climate Reanalyzer” to see what the weather/climate is doing around the globe, now, in the past, and forecasted out a week or so. In two previous videos I examined “Earth NullSchool”.

Play around with both of these websites and see how abrupt climate change is rapidly changing our planet, and use them to educate others.

6.Yesterday I created a social media firestorm with my video “H-bomb can halt abrupt climate change”. I elaborate in this video on the science.

Last Ditch Halting of Abrupt Climate Change // Published on Apr 8, 2016

On social media many people wondered if I had gone to the dark side, lost my marbles, or worse. As far as I know, none of these things happened. Life is good.

A) we are in a global climate emergency
B) the largest ecosystem on the planet (Great Barrier Reef) is on deathwatch
C) GHGs, temperatures, biosphere loss spiking
D) could we bend curves downward, if nothing else works?

7. Today, Friday April 8th, 2015 Relief Analysis has a new podcast, its fifth in a now go to series in the subtle zone between climate and society. You can mark your calendar, where every three to five weeks, Nick can be counted on to dependably put out one more gem. Never miss [4].

Thank you for having the courage to speak up, and to continue to do so. You and very few others are years ahead of others on what is actually unfolding and the harsh, deadly reality we are all facing.

And thank you for not contributing to the escalating ‘false narrative’ which so many are now so guilty of, regulating what can be discussed and what can’t or won’t be, scrubbing their comments to create a false narrative and fake consensus among the ‘fans’.

Like denialism, this is also going to go down as a crime against humanity because it’s causing so much distraction and waste of time and effort as the wrong ‘data’ (and wrong people) keeps getting pushed to the top. It’s like these people don’t believe their own discoveries, nor understand what they mean. It’s astounding that they can (still) be so bright and so obtuse at the same time.

I am absolutely disgusted with the phony hopium still being embraced by climate writers, bloggers and scientists and have withdrawn most of my contributions and efforts in this area, refusing to be a part of the phony ‘consensus’ and make-believe ‘alarmism’. If these clowns even believed half of what they claim, they’d be responding with emergency tactics and strategies, but they’re not. They don’t understand what 2C means for survival of the human race – let alone 4C or 6C.

We are beyond ‘planetary emergency’ now and the pitiful excuses we’ve seen as ‘climate action’ continues to commit the species to extinction. Extreme emergency measures and efforts are obviously on the horizon when humanity finally realizes how utterly screwed we are. I do not hold any hope that they will work as intended and not without severe consequences and effects, but they should be part of the vernacular and in our discussions.

Um, I published about this last November, and I still don’t think it’s a good idea.

    Let’s do a paleontology lesson:

–The closest analog to what’s happening today is the PETM, when there was probably a Large Igneous Province (now Iceland, then around Greenland) moving through northern carbon deposits or something similar. It was a messy period, but not *quite* a mass extinction.

–However, there was a time when there was a major (Large Igneous Province) size eruption going on, and then there was a huge explosion in the middle of it. If you know anything about paleontology, you’ve already realized I’m talking about the emplacement of the Deccan Traps at the end of the Cretaceous and the beginning of the Paleocene, and the Chicxulub asteroid impact that happened in the middle of that eruption.

Do we remember how the effects of nuclear winter got conflated with that asteroid strike? I certainly hope this brings up memories.

Why are we talking about supersizing a medium-level extinction event like the PETM to a true mass extinction event by adding lots of explosions?

Can we not go there please?

(check out heteromeles.com for links to my book on climate change, Hot Earth Dreams (amazon link) where I briefly discussed why having a nuclear war in the middle of AGW was a bad idea.

On ‘H-Bombs Can Halt Abrupt Climate Change’, yes the physics stacks up but it doesn’t address the ocean acidification problem from our emissions. There is some evidence that Atmospheric nuclear testing stagnated mid 20th century global warming, and modelling shows that A small nuclear war would cause global cooling as you point out.

It just buys us some time. But there may be major side affects to even using controlled nuclear explosions as a method of injecting huge volume of particles in the stratosphere, a form of solar radiation management geo-engineering. This would impact on tropical circulation and changes in precipitation. It would be similar to injection of sulphates into the stratosphere, or a large volcanic eruption like Mount Pinutabo. After the Pinutabo eruption both the Amazon River and the Ganges experienced very low river flows and droughts were experienced.

Instructive to read Trenbeth and Dai (2007), Geophysical Research Letters – ‘Effects of Mount Pinatubo volcanic eruption on the hydrological cycle’ in which they conclude: “Creating a risk of widespread drought and reduced freshwater resources for the world to cut down on global warming does not seem like an appropriate fix. Our results suggest that considerable caution should be used regarding any intentional human intervention in the climate system that we do not fully understand.”

I discuss solar radiation management geo-engineering at my 2014 article on Climate Geo-engineering study on sulphate injection shows Hydrological disruption to rain and severe drought. It is something we need to approach with a great deal of caution, as there is a large possibility that in deploying technology for solar radiation management we will fuck up the climate system even more.

Some call it “faustian bargain”, hehehe. Doctor Faustus signed the contract with his own blood, I don’t forget that, I surely insist on that contract 3:-)

I read an article today via the environmental health news hub about soaring temps in lower Greenland on Monday. I tried to confirm these temps via Earth Nullschool but came up rather short. The difference being about 20 degrees C. Can anyone point out what I am possibly doing wrong?

Nullschool parameters: I just looked up local day time temps of surface air temperature..

    Cheers!
